drama evening of plays at BWA

What to expect?

This year we have 6 short plays and a monolgue performed by our drama students.

There is a mix of mystery, adventure, humour and suspense.

Four of the plays were created entirely out of improvisation and written by the students themselves!

The evening closes with our Drama Awards ceremony, where one Junior and one Senior students gets recognised for their consistent effort, progress and attitude in class.

About the plays

A Series of Unfortunate Events

Violet, Klaus, Beatrice, and Sunny suddenly find themselves orphaned and placed under the care of Count Olaf. Care, however, is perhaps a misleading word... Join them as they attempt to dismantle Count Olaf's evil plan and protect their family's fortune!

Stranded

'Inspired by The Lord of the Flies, this story follows a group of students who wake up amongst a plane wreckage on an island with no food, no shelter, and worst of all, no signal. Can they work together to survive? Or will it all fall apart?

The Missing Birthday Girl

A surprise party wherein the one being celebrated cannot be found. With big characters, birthday presents and confusion, will they ever get round to eating the cake?

When We Don’t Say It

Follows a group of friends who struggle to communicate fully with

one another. Based largely in the subtext, will their day out unravel how they really feel?

I Didn't Do It

A psychological whodunit. A group of teenagers trapped within four walls until someone confesses. They have snippets of evidence, suspicion and the sun setting, so will the guilty party admit or stay quiet?

Trust

A thriller that challenges not only the characters belief in one another, but also in themselves. When a group of friends visit the woods, tensions fly and as they slowly split off, they realise there may be something more vicious than their words

Shakespeare Monologue

Our adult student Abigail will be performing for the first time, doing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Henry VIII.

Andi Bickers

Andi fosters a warm, creative and fun atmosphere for the students. Wherein the focus lies on encouraging the children to not concern themselves with getting things ‘right’ and rather, to build their confidence in making bold and interesting choices and eliminate the fear of mistakes in the way of following impulses and allowing imagination to lead.

Andi is a professional actor with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Acting from Italia Conti. In their final year of training, Andi won the coveted ‘Carleton Hobbs Bursary Award and was therefore employed by the BBC.
